" There’s no denying that women play a significant role in driving change across fields. I also believe that empowering and educating women isn’t just morally right; it is also essential for community purposes and economic growth. Just like the domino effect, when women are provided with access to education, employment opportunities, and decision-making roles, societies thrive.
At Yara India, almost 50% of our management team is made up of women, which shows how we walk the talk on gender diversity. Beyond our corporate endeavours, we actively support the empowerment of rural girls through various programmes. We look forward to building a brighter future, ensuring that every girl can thrive and contribute to society."
Three things were getting in the way of Anil and Sunil Bhosale, strawberry farmers in Kharshi, Maharashtra:
• Improper absorption of nutrients
• Pests and diseases
• Water management
After various solutions failed, the farmers came across Yara India. Our team listened to and understood their problems. We studied the field and recommended that they use specific solutions like YaraRega and YaraVita Bud Builder.
To say that the undertaking was a success would be an understatement. Their strawberries improved in all aspects: size, colour, taste, etc. The yield nearly doubled, going from 9–16 MT per acre. This, in turn, increased their income by Rs. 8,00,000 per acre. Currently, they continue to follow our recommended practice and are using the additional income to lease another farm.
Despite pouring his blood & sweat into tomato farming, the yield was below-average. The culprits were irritating pests, the balance of soil nutrient content, poor light requirements, and water management. This led him to hopelessness, until Yara India rekindled it.
We devised a Crop plan for him and provided him with all the necessary information with required assistance. Pleased with our input, he followed our recommendation — he used YaraVita Stopit, among other specialities, and reaped products rewarded him with improved yield. The yield increased by 6 MT, and his income increased by Rs. 1,20,000.
Yara India launched the ‘Kissan ka Sachcha Yaar’ campaign, which captured the spirit of our relationship with the farmers of India. Just like a true friend, we assist and guide farmers from sowing seeds to reaping the harvest. The campaign coordinated with the launch of FarmCare 2.0. This new version includes features such as real-time weather updates, soil management guidance, etc.
Good news for the potato farmers of India: Yara India has signed an MoU with the Department of Horticulture and Food Processing, Government of Uttar Pradesh. This collaboration aims to provide incentives, seeds, and quality agronomy. To this, we’ll introduce the most sustainable and farmer-friendly practices. These initiatives will help farmers secure better prices in the market.
Silje Christine Andersen, First Secretary, Royal Norwegian Embassy in New Delhi, appreciated the game-changing FarmCare app. Furthermore, she highlighted the contribution of women in the agricultural workforce during the recent Farmer Connect event. She talked about the significance of addressing their problems, as they make up over 70% of the workforce.
In Babrala, Uttar Pradesh, farmers were facing challenges that affected both their pockets and their produce. These obstacles included 10–20% sloppy sections in the field, reduced rainwater percolation, and uneven fields resulting from flood irrigation. Upon understanding the issue, we sprang into action.
We devised a Package of Practice that aligned the farm’s recommendations with landscape management. This included bed-levelling, information about laser levelling, deep ploughing, berm strengthening, and correct input placement, providing all guidance that the farmers needed. Farmers were able to achieve more efficient and effective work, thereby improving their livelihoods.
Yara India has obtained certification as a Great Place to Work organisation! By earning this recognition, we join esteemed companies renowned for their exceptional work environment and positive culture. This demonstrates our commitment to providing our employees with a rewarding and fulfilling work experience.
