Yara India Signs MoU with Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University for Farmer-Centric Radio Awareness Initiative 2.0

Yara India, a subsidiary of Yara International and the world's leading crop nutrition company, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Agra, under the aegis of the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers, Govt of India. The collaboration aims to launch a comprehensive farmer awareness program focused on the balanced use of fertilisers, crop nutrition management, soil health, and sustainable farming practices. Through this initiative, Yara and the University seek to educate and empower the farming community via a series of dedicated radio broadcasts on the University’s community radio station.

The twelve-month program, commencing in September 2025 and running through August 2026, will feature 180 episodes, each 30 minutes in length, broadcast on University Community Radio (UCR) 90.4 AGRA KI AWAZ. The content will include scientific talks, interviews, panel discussions, success stories of progressive farmers, and outreach segments, all designed to provide valuable information on balanced fertilizer use and good agricultural practices. To ensure maximum reach, all broadcasts will be delivered in Hindi.

Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Agra, an esteemed educational institution known for its research and development in agriculture, will leverage its expertise to design and broadcast the radio content.
Mr Ajay Mishra (P.C.S), Registrar, Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Agra, added, "This collaboration will allow us to reach a wider audience of farmers and provide them with the knowledge they need to optimize their agricultural practices and improve their livelihoods."

In addition to the radio broadcasts, the partnership will include a minimum of 10 outreach programs, allowing for direct engagement with farmers. The University Community Radio will also upload these sessions to its YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@90.4agrakiawaz) for broader accessibility.

Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University
The foundation of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University (originally known as Agra University) was laid on the 1st of July, 1927, as a result of hectic efforts of a band of enthusiastic educationists like Rev. Canon A.W. Davis, Munshi Narain Prasad Asthana, Dr L.P. Mathur, Lala Dewan Chand, Rai Bahadur Anand Swaroop and Dr Brajendra Swaroop. Original jurisdiction of University extended over United Provinces of Agra, Central India and Rajputana with 14 affiliated colleges and 2530 students of which, 1475 students belonged to United Provinces. Initially, there were only four faculties in the University viz. Arts, Sciences, Commerce and Law. Faculties of Medicine (1936), Agriculture (1938), Home Science (1980), Basic Sciences (1981), Fine Arts (1982) and Management (1994) were added subsequently.
