Yara India Boosts Grape Quality and Yields in Bagalkot through Balanced Nutrition Practices

August 25, 2025

National, August 25, 2025: Yara India, a subsidiary of Yara International and the world’s leading crop nutrition company, continues to empower Indian farmers with science-led solutions that improve productivity, profitability, and sustainability. A shining example is Mr. Rajendra Nyamgouda, a progressive grape farmer from Todalabagi village, Jamkhandi Taluk, Bagalkot District, who has transformed his 18-acre vineyard through the adoption of Yara’s balanced nutrition practices.

For years, grape farmers in the region struggled with challenges such as declining soil health, reduced yields, flower and berry drop, and inconsistent fruit quality. Traditional practices were unable to address these issues effectively, leading to both economic and agronomic concerns. Recognizing the need for change, Mr. Nyamgouda turned to Yara’s integrated crop nutrition solutions.

He adopted a comprehensive program that included a combination of products such as YaraMila Complex, YaraLiva Nitrabor, YaraTera SOP, YaraTera Deltaspray 11-40-11, and foliar nutrition solutions under the YaraVita portfolio, including Zintrac, Bortrac, BudBuilder, Seniphos, and Stopit. When applied strategically during both April and October pruning cycles, these inputs provided a complete, balanced, and chloride-free nutrition package, delivering visible improvements to vineyard performance.

The results were remarkable. Mr. Nyamgouda reported uniform and early cane maturity, consistent bud burst, reduced flower and berry drop, minimized fruit cracking, and visibly improved sugar content. The grapes also developed a crisper taste, stronger shelf life, and better market acceptance. Importantly, soil health improved significantly with reduced fertiliser dependency, ensuring more sustainable farming practices for the future.
“With Yara’s products, I have observed better results in both yield and quality. By following the balanced nutrition concept and using chloride- and heavy metal-free fertilizers, I have improved my soil health, ensured environmental safety, and enhanced the nutrition of my fruit,” said Mr. Nyamgouda.

Economically, his profitability has increased as yields improved year on year, while quality upgrades enabled him to receive better prices in regular markets. His success has also influenced neighbouring farmers, many of whom are now adopting similar practices after seeing the visible improvements in his vineyard.

This case exemplifies how Yara’s science-backed, crop-specific solutions can create a lasting impact—enhancing both farm productivity and environmental sustainability. By focusing on balanced nutrition, Yara is helping grape farmers in Karnataka secure better incomes, higher-quality produce, and a more climate-smart future.
