Farmer’s Success Stories 2025
My name is Yogesh, a farmer from Sangamner, Maharashtra, and for me, farming is not just a livelihood - it is a relationship of generations with the land that feeds us. I grow onion, tomato, and other vegetables, all of which demand careful soil management and constant attention. Over the years, I’ve learned one simple truth: healthy soil means a healthy future.
Every season begins with understanding my land. I check my soil’s texture, moisture, and nutrient levels, and I follow a proper nutrition plan instead of applying fertilizers blindly. This way, my soil gets exactly what it needs - nothing more, nothing less.
To keep my land alive and strong, I practice crop rotation between onion and tomato. This prevents soil fatigue and allows natural recovery. I also add organic matter like decomposed cow dung and crop residue to improve soil structure and help it retain moisture, especially during Maharashtra’s harsh summers.
I stay away from harmful practices like burning residue or overusing chemicals. Instead, I rely on balanced fertilizers, drip irrigation, mulching, and timely micronutrient sprays to maintain soil health.
For me, every handful of soil is a living identity - it breathes, it grows, it supports us and I protect it like a guardian. That is why I proudly say… I am a true Maati Ka Rakhwala.
