Yara India Releases Crop Nutrition Advisory to Help Haryana Vegetable Farmers Combat Heat Stress

Haryana, 25 June 2026: Yara, the world's leading crop nutrition company and provider of environmental solutions, has released a region-specific advisory for vegetable growers in Haryana as elevated temperatures continue to persist across Northern India. The advisory is designed to help farmers protect crop productivity and quality during the ongoing heat spell through targeted nutrient management practices that enhance crop resilience and support healthy plant development.

The advisory is based on the impact of extreme heat on plant physiology. When temperatures rise beyond optimal levels, plants experience oxidative stress, leading to the formation of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) that damage cells, impair photosynthesis, restrict nutrient movement, and affect flowering and fruit development. To help crops cope with these conditions, Yara India recommends a balanced nutrition approach that supports water management, plant cooling, and natural stress defence mechanisms.

For vegetable crops in Haryana, prevailing high-temperature conditions increase the risk of physiological disorders such as leaf buckling, premature ripening, flower drop, and blossom-end rot (BER). Heat stress can restrict the movement of essential nutrients, particularly calcium and boron, within the plant, resulting in poor fruit development, reduced quality, and potential yield losses if corrective measures are not taken in a timely manner.

To help crops withstand heat stress, Yara India recommends foliar application of YaraVita Stopit along with fertigation using YaraTera CALCINIT to ensure a steady supply of calcium to growing tissues. This helps strengthen cell walls, reduce blossom-end rot, and support effective plant cooling through improved stomatal function. Additionally, potassium aids water regulation and cell turgor, while bio-stimulants and zinc strengthen the plant's natural antioxidant defences against heat-induced damage.
Commenting on the advisory, Sanjiv Kanwar, Managing Director, Yara South Asia, said, “Extreme weather is increasingly influencing crop performance across India, making proactive crop nutrition management more important than ever. Through our agronomic expertise and science-based solutions, through our science-based solutions and agronomic expertise, we aim to help farmers effectively manage heat stress and maintain crop productivity.”

Yara India continues to support farmers through localized agronomic advisories, digital tools, and advanced crop nutrition solutions designed to help navigate evolving climate challenges and achieve sustainable productivity.
